Most relevant if you are remodelling or adding a unit

What to do: If your plans add fixtures or sewer flow, have a contractor video the lateral from the building to the main to the City's standard before you submit, and allow for any repairs to be shown on the plans.
City of Morro Bay, Requirements for Video Inspections of Private Sewer Lateral (PSL)Why this matters
The inspection becomes part of the building permit: "All required repairs shall be included on the approved set of building plans." The video must cover "the entire length of the private lateral" including "the junction with the sewer main", and where there is no access point a new cleanout may be required. Defects the City lists include "Break-in" connections to the main that are not a factory wye, Orangeburg pipe, offset joints and cracked or broken pipe - and under the City's code the lateral and its connection to the main are the owner's to maintain.
